COMPUTING COURSES - NEW TRANSITION ARRANGEMENT

Business Information Systems Transition Arrangements

Business Communication and Presentation (BCP)
Business Communication and Presentation will not be a unit in the new revised BIS programme
and will not be examined after June 2008.

It will be replaced by Information Systems Project Management in BIS Diploma Part 2.

Principles of Programming has moved from Diploma Part 2 to Diploma Part 1.

Therefore, from December 2008 onwards, you must pass Principles of Programming in order to
complete Diploma Part 1 and also the Diploma in Business Information Systems. If you
completed Diploma Part 1 prior to December 2008, your certificate still remains valid.

All passes achieved in the BIS programme prior to December 2008 remain valid and will
automatically be transferred to the new revised programme.

Students who have passed Business Communication and Presentation can use this pass instead
of a pass in Information Systems Project Management to complete the Diploma in Business
Information Systems until December 2009. After December 2009, a pass in BCP will not be valid
for completion of the BIS Diploma.

Students do not need to apply to ABE to claim this pass – as soon as they have passed the other
8 required subjects they will automatically be awarded the BIS Diploma and sent a certificate.

Managing Systems Change (MSC)
Managing Systems Change will not be examined in the BIS programme after June 2008.
It will be replaced by Information Systems Strategic Management in the BIS Advanced Diploma.

Students who have passed Managing Systems Change can use this pass instead of a pass in
Information Systems Strategic Management to complete the Advanced Diploma in Business
Information Systems until December 2009. After December 2009, a pass in MSC will not be
valid for completion of the BIS Advanced Diploma.

Students do not need to apply to ABE to claim this pass – as soon as they have passed the other
4 required subjects they will automatically be awarded the BIS Advanced Diploma and will be
sent a certificate.

Please also check on the ABE website for syllabuses and further details of the new Business
Information Systems programme and the transition arrangements.
